Heads up

Remember the head from last post? It’s finished now. I had imagined it like one of those vintage wooden display dummies, where the paint is all cracked and yellowed. And I set to work to create something with the same vintage feel to it- without taking the pains of waiting for the paint to crack.

I sculpted the head on a wig stand, covered it in tea-drenched paper towels in the same way I made the background and painted her. Her hair is not at all vintage of course, I just liked the look of it.
And since she is going to be on display with a mask in her face I wanted the hair to look special. You are not going to see much of her face after all.

  1. Oh WOW! She looks absolutely fantastic Mia, I really love what you have done with her hair!! I had to enlarge the photo so I could clearly see all the detail, it's beautiful . . . much too beautiful to cover with a mask!!

P.S. I'd love to see what she'd go for if you put her on eBay. πŸ™‚

  2. Yeah, I imagine they would want the polar opposite. πŸ˜€ Like Xanadu, I wonder what price she would bring on ebay. And like you, I wouldn't part with her, either.

  3. It should be used for earring display or something – it's so beautiful that it's a shame to cover it!

  4. That's a lovely idea. I hope the times of masks are over at some point, and then she'll get jewelry to wear. I am afraid her eye region will bleach out in my display. Not like people's faces, they will probably tan around the eyes and have a white area were the mask is…
