The answer to the question ‘Do I need more fabric?’ is ‘probably not’, but since it was my birthday I bought some new fabric anyway :).
I went to a local store and found some lovely new ditsy flower poplin (which I didn’t photograph before I put it in the washing machine).
And this arrived today. I ordered it just two days ago in the hopes it would be here for my birthday, and it was. Most of my jersey and the plain cotton fabric is from my favorite online store herberttextil, and whoever is packing the fabric is doing a very good job at folding. It’s always fun to open the boxes, it almost looks like a present, tied up with a ribbon and the colors in a pleasing order.
But it didn’t fit into the box I wanted to put it in, and before I knew it I was in the middle of reorganizing everything.
I had my fabric in at least 8 different boxes, and I lost track of what I had. I even bought fabric twice because I forgot I already had the pattern.
Now I have jersey and cotton sorted neatly in one large box each, and other fabrics in smaller boxes. The yarns and buttons were already sorted, but my ribbons and laces were a mess. When I had finally untangled and sorted them I found a bag with lace trim I had completely forgotten about.
Aha! I knew there was one I hadn't commented on. I love the way you've organized your fabrics. You can actually see what's in each box, unlike my boxes where the fabrics are piled one on top of the other. They usually end up a mess from me pawing through them. Even your sewing notions are tidy.
I'll be interested to see what you make with your new fabric, although judging by the amount of unused fabric you have stored, it might be a while before you use any of the new stuff. 😀
Before I organized them like this I had them in piles as well. I don't know why I didn't arrange them like this before, it actually takes up less space. I still have an order on the way… Just the thought of all the things I can make kind of stresses me. Haha. As if I had to make them all at once.
Belated happy birthday!! I feel you, it is like the weather knows when I want to take photos, because it is an instant-out-of-the-nowhere clody day D: I really love your stack, and how you have everything super neat and tidy. It is great for finding stuff!
I agree with Fiona: floral cotton poplin is a treasure box! And you have such lovely patterns there!
Thank you :). You are so right about that. But I shouldn't complain, we have had good weather for a while now.
My next post will be about fabric online shopping 🙂
