Ines Arend

Ines and Arne always joke about how they fell in love at an AA Meeting. AA as in A. Arend and sons, a rental company for heavy equipment. Albert Arend was Arne’s great grandfather, who founded the company in 1920. The locals referred to the company as AA (like it read on the building wall in huge letters) since it has been the place to go if you need tools or heavy equipment for about a hundred years. Ines worked at one of the three locations in the area and they fell in love during a two-day marketing agenda meeting. They married a year later.

Arne and Ines both wanted to start a family, and since the Arends could afford to live on Arne’s income only, Ines wanted to stay home for her kids. Ines never thought she’d enjoy being a housewife as much as she does. She just loves homemaking and teaching her kids everything they don’t learn at school. She supports her husband by taking charge of everything connected to their private life. And because she’s just so much better at it each of them does what suits their talents best.

As the wife of one of the big employers in the area she takes part in social activities like fundraisers or other things the community expects of her, but she likes to keep her life as private as possible.

Ines comes from a wealthy family herself, but she has always been a down-to-earth woman. She can drive a forklift as well as a tractor, and she did most of the landscape gardening on the property herself. She wants her kids to learn where the food comes from, how to grow your own vegetables and fruit and how to cook healthy or on a budget. Ines set out a herb and kitchen garden, she keeps chickens and Arne planted a cherry tree in addition to the existing apple tree and raspberry bushes. All of this and her two daughters keep her very busy, and she loves it. With three cats and two pet rabbits there’s never a dull moment.

Ines enjoys being a mom and wife, and she enjoys dressing up and looking feminine and sexy- as much for her own enjoyment as for Arne’s. She likes dresses and elegant clothes just as much as her old gardening pants. She loves to care and nurture, plan and nest, she loves cooking for her family and making her home a place where every family member feels safe, relaxed and respected.

The Arend’s home is a light-filled, spacious country home with a lot of wood, comfy corners and spaces where the family can gather as well as retreat, and most of it is Ines work. It smells of wood, homemade bread, herbs and fresh air, and most summer days the windows and back door are open. Ines welcomes her kid’s friends as well as her husbands friends, and dinner for her family and chance guests are not uncommon. Ines is very aware that she’s lucky to be able to afford this lifestyle, and she tries to do her housekeeping as frugal as possible. She doesn’t like waste and tries to teach her kids to be mindful of their own things and other peoples property. Ines likes to teach Theresa and Rosalie to make things themselves or to repair broken things, because she knows they will value items more if they experienced how much effort went into making them.
