Everett’s back exit seems to attract strays. A little while ago Everett heard strange noises and went to investigate. He found a large grey mutt rummaging through the trash. The dog was obviously hungry but seemed quite friendly.
A bowl of water and a couple of raw burgers later Everett had a new friend – and responsibility.
Since there was no collar and Everett had no idea who his owner might be, he took him to the next vet to check for a chip. The vet didn’t find one. He suspected the dog might have been abandoned and hadn’t been a stray for long. It’s still a very young dog and he apparently has some Weimaraner blood.
Everett decided to take him back home instead of taking him to a shelter. He put some posters up and mailed a picture to the animal shelters in the area in case somebody asked for the dog.
Everett and Bell hope nobody will claim him. Bell named him Stoner for his color and his friendly and laid-back temperament. They have a lot of fun training him. Stoner can be rambunctious but he is eager to learn new things. Stoner follows Bell everywhere, the two of them hit it off right from the start. It makes Everett smile to see the two former strays thrive under his roof.
Great looking dog! Is this another of your needle-felted pets? Where do you find time to work on all your crafts? I like the story you've come up with for him. Here's hoping no one comes forward to claim him so that Everett and Bell can keep him. Everyone needs a dog. 🙂
Thank you :). Yes he is. I wish I could make them more flexible. Now people just have to imagine he's chasing after sticks. Haha, that reminds me of a guy whose advice for all kinds of crises was 'get a massive dog'. So you are probably right 🙂
I like both the dog and the story very much! 🙂
Thank you 🙂
I love this story, reminds me so much of a friend of ours who has just adopted his first dog. Initially purchased for his son, but it has done wonders for the family…it's wonderful how dogs can bring a family together.
Your needle felting skills are really great, I have used it when making bear faces, but I'm not as accomplished as you at creating a whole animal, your dogs and cats a really lifelike.
I love your stories and pictures, honestly!! Stoner is amazing, and he is perfectly in scale! I love the picture where she is pointing at the camera to make him look there!! Perfect 😀
Thank you! He has actually cat eyes, I didn't have other eyes and wanted to finish him.
Thank you! I agree, caring for a pet can do wonders. Needle felting is fun, but I think there is a lot of room for improvement.
