Apologies if the pictures look weird- I have to use a screen with different color management and resolution after my iMac broke, and I still didn’t get used to it.

What do you think, is Melisande a stripe – girl after all?

Melisande and her favorite babysitter. Walden is not the father, and he is not Melisande’s boyfriend, but the three of them get along great.

I made sand colored pants to go with it, and she wears Iple JID girl boots.

This one belongs to Queenie, so it’s very tight. I just wanted to see how Melisande looks in stripes. It’s not exactly her style, but I like the colors on her so much that I will probably make one in her size as well.

I made this tunic for Melisande in June, but I never took pictures of it. But the color fits nicely into the autumn color palette. The short sleeves make me shiver, though. The pictures are not that great, but I like how the light looks. It’s this special angle of the sun, the golden light and the different browns together with her pale skin and the red hair.

First I cut the form and let it sit in warm water for a while. The material (wood pulp board) can be bent without breaking when wet. The wheels are cable sleeves I attached to a meat skewer. A pin and some silver spray later and it’s ready to roll. The black top is some glued on black foil.

Queenie will never be as elegant as Ko Hyojoo, but at least her dress looks nice 🙂

Roux complained, she wanted one too. A dress, I mean. Her’s is more of a long top.

Dandelion, Bell and Ludivine browsed through the box with woolen stuff. Hats are always a good choice, and Bell found a jacket that is slightly too large for her.

Judith received a letter from a friend who still lives in the colony, and she and Melisande both love muslin tunics.

Dandelion has a new very colorful print knit dress. It’s so short that it’s difficult to take pictures without showing more than you want, but the pattern should be distracting enough :D. The print is a bit too big for a doll that size, but I love it and Dandelion can wear stuff like that.

Roux sports a short muslin dress with a low waist and a hem that’s just finished with a small zig-zag stitch. That actually works quite well with muslin- if you cut the pieces carefully following the grain. I like this color for her, but I need to re-attach the button in the back. It’s supposed to sit tighter in the waist, but the button came off. That’s one thing I hate about those super tiny metal press buttons: the holes are so small and sharp that they rip the thread.

Melisande has a new summer dress as well, but when I finished it it wasn’t that warm. That’s why she’s wearing the woolen tights and boots.

Update: The lovely Morganatron who runs Peppermint Circus on Etsy provided a picture of a Raccoonhead on the old Withdoll girl body next to the Raccoonbody. Looks like a great teenager option.

FID /Raccoon chest part on JID original lower body doesn’t fit (maybe they fit on the new JID body, they seem to be smaller in the chest). FID heads on the JID body don’t work either. You can however put a Raccoon head on a JID girl original body. It makes for a rather thick necked result with broad shoulders. Even more ridiculous is a FID male head on a JID girl body. FID male heads on JID boy bodies on the other hand might work pretty well as teen sons. Both my JID boys are on the muscle body, so I can’t show how it would look on the slimmer model body. The advantage would be a possible purchase of this hybrid over doll choice.

As you can see in the picture above, a Raccoon head on a classic JID girl body might work as a teenage daughter. No 4 and 5 might be possible Kids aged 4 to 6. Willow looks very tiny, his head is almost too small. The Kruselings are jointed plastic play dolls. This one is a dark skinned doll, there are lighter skin tones as well.

Rosie is a very elegant and mature looking sculpt, so I guess if you want to go for a combination of a JID girl body and Raccoon, other/younger looking sculpts might be better suited.

This is a combination of a JID muscle body and Claude’s head. The head is still a bit large, but this could work.

Haha. This looks so ODD. Claude’s head is still smaller than the original JID head, but it still looks ridiculous.

And of course you could just go for the curvy FID to create a teenager. They are smaller than the classic body, but about the same height as Raccoon.

And to give you an update on my question to Iplehouse if they would consider downsizing the KID heads: Although their first reaction was promising they told me a couple of months later that they don’t plan to do this any time soon. Maybe I should ask Raccoon instead if he would consider making small heads for the KID body.

What I have been doing these last days is this:

Sewing masks. Lots of them. My first batch is already gone, and this is the next generation. They are nearly finished, I just need to neaten the seams and wash them. They take time to make.

I will offer some of them in my shop, and since I needed some sort of display I sculpted a head. In case you wonder why she still looks that raw and wrinkled: Her face is covered with the same decoupage technique I used on the background – and she is not finished either. She will get a sanding, some ornamental patterns as hair, but other than that no face paint.

There are also 6 basic white shirts waiting for a dye job, but this one at least is finished- yay!

A proper wrap would need some kind of undergarment, a shape to give the impression of hair underneath. I tested for a bit and came up with my future wrap voluminizer, a cap that is worn beneath the wrap and can be used to stitch some loose strands of hair to it. Melisande got the first one, without hair. These wraps look much better with earrings, and since Melisande’s ears are not pierced I had to photoshop them in. Unfortunately the head size doesn’t allow for some of the more elaborate wraps with up to five shawls as shown on the wrapunzel site, but with different fabrics the basic wraps look nice enough.

This is the first version. I love this look on her.

The next one with some strands of hair, and different looks depending on the wrapped fabric.

Tristania’s ears are pierced, so this one comes with earrings. I have a couple more, but this post is already rather picture-heavy, so I will leave it at this for now. More to follow 🙂

The jeans jacket with the embroidery is not for her, she just had to put it on for me, since the designated owner has not arrived yet.

And since I am waiting for two new girls I started to collect style inspiration on my pinterest, which is an awesome way to waste a lot of time ;). Does anyone else do that?
