I don’t own a SartoriaJ doll and no Raccoon man, but those who own these dolls will probably know how they compare to Iplehouse and Raccoon dolls in size.

The first picture shows Iplehouse FID women, the Raccoon NaPoSlim woman and the Raccoon kid next to an Iplehouse kid. While the bodies of the two kids are very close in size (they can share tops and dresses, IpleKid pants are a bit wide on the Raccoon Kid), the head size of the Raccoon kid is in perfect proportion with the mature dolls.

This is my new Raccoon kid with possible parents. First picture shows an Iplehouse FID man on the model body, and the Raccoon NaPoSlim body. In the second picture the dad is on a FID muscle body next to a FID woman on the classic body.

Various women, Iplehouse classic FID woman next to different Raccoon bodies. The original old slim Raccoon body is closest in size to the Iplehouse Fid, the NewSlim is a tiny bit shorter, and the NaPoSlim just a few millimeters shorter than the NewSlim body.

My sources for all these shoes are two of my favorite AliExpress shops for doll shoes that are not specifically BJD shoes. When you follow the links you might get redirected to a machine translated local version of AliExpress for your country. Don’t worry, you can change that. I will add some recommendations for shopping on AliExpress at the end of this post.

Unfortunately a search for BJD items like shoes means that a lot of shops that also sell recasts will pop up. For that reason I always check first if shops sell dolls as well. If they are recasts, I avoid them on principle. But there are also a couple of official brand shops with great quality items, like Jusuns doll wigs e.g. And AliExpress is a great source for sewing items like small buttons, lace, ribbons and dollhouse props.

I found some great shops there over the years, and the following are two of them.

The first one is called Baobaole, and the shoes are very affordable. The quality is not what you might be used to from BJD company shoes, but really ok for the price. I ordered shoes for Blythe, Paola Reina and my little Monst dolls from this shop. They offer shoes by size, and some of them fit the smaller old Raccoon woman feet and Raccoon Kid feet as well. The Raccoon Kids come with slightly wider feet than most YOSD. But changing the feet with the original small women feet is an option.

Shoes for Raccoon kids and old women feet

The first two pictures show shoes that fit the old Raccoon women feet, the original slim body came with those small feet.

The black 1/6 chucks fit Iplehouse Kids and Raccoon old women feet, unfortunately they don’t go on the Raccoon Kid feet. They come in various colors (just as the white ones in the second picture). I exchanged the shoe laces for thinner ones.

I will link the items below the pictures. Just in case the link breaks over time because the product is listed differently, the product description is in the picture.

These white sneakers are a variation of the 1/6 canvas sneakers with a strap closure, and the brown shoes are EXO doll shoes. The canvas sneakers fit YOSD and Raccoon old feet, the brown ones fit the Raccoon Kids as well.

And now shoes for the Raccoon Kids. The Kids have difficult feet. Large, wide and a very wide and flat heel. I really hope that Raccoon will consider making an update on the bodies when the girls are popular enough. Forearms and ankles could be a bit slimmer. The feet are designed to match the Paola Reina foot style, they don’t look like BJD feet. It would be great if Raccoon would make YOSD sized feet for this body and tweak the features a bit to look more BJD style. It’s frustrating if you have a hard time finding shoes for a doll, and it might put people off from ordering one.

Maybe I will sand the heels of my girl a bit. But even without sanding there are quite a couple of nice shoe options. Most promising are shoes designed for ExoPlush dolls/Ruby Red dolls, they are about 5×2.8cm. The black and brown shoes in the next picture are the same size as the brown shoes above. When you follow the link you will find different colors. They fit nicely (especially with a bit of heating) and don’t look too large. The product description reads “5*2.8cm Shoes For Korea KPOP 15cm 20cm EXO Stars Dolls Toy Boots 1/6 Sneakers Plush Dolls Accessorries Doll Toys”.

Added after I published this post: Younan told me on Instagram that Ruby Red fashion friends and siblies shoes are a great fit. I don’t have any (yet), but I am sure he’ll post a video about them over on his Youtube Channel Younans dolls . He sent me some pictures (I couldn’t download them from Instagram, but thank you very much for the effort). They are about 5mm larger than the Exodoll shoes in the picture below. But they look like a good and easy to find option.

These are the shoes Jenny wears in her box opening post. They come in various colors and fit the old women feet as well. They sit tight on the kids, but are a nice option to go with a dress.

The next picture shows shoes for Paola Reina. They are a bit wide, but work if you don’t mind the chunky look.

You can probably find all these on Ebay as well. These are just a few options out of many. And if you try other shoes listed as 5×2.8cm doll shoes and they don’t fit, the loss is not that great. All these are cheap. And if you find some great shoes for the girls, please let me know in the comments or post about it in the Raccoon kid discussion on DOA.

Chucks for Raccoon women new feet and Iple Fid girls

The second shop is called Tilda Quality Toys and Gifts. The shoes are better quality than most of the similar style shoes, they are a bit more expensive but still very affordable.

These come in black, white, jeans and beige. The body in the picture below is the NapoSlim, and I really like how the shoes look. They are a bit wider than Slim Mini BJD shoes, but they look absolutely in proportion. I got all the colors.

I exchanged the laces with white yarn, I am not a fan of super long and thick shoe laces. They fit the Kids too, but are large in proportion of course.

And last but not least: I found some lovely shoes for Rachel as well. She has long but very narrow feet, and it’s really difficult to find something for this artist doll foot size.

They are also from Tilda, 1/6 Retro high heels. They come in various colors as well.

A few recommendations for a smooth shopping experience on AliExpress

When you don’t have an account or visit for the first time, AliExpress will grab your IP or browser settings and redirect you to a machine translated local version. The results can be hilarious, but most of the time the translations are just confusing. I recommend going to the international “com” version to set up an account. You can specify your country, your currency and English as the language of choice. Deny popup- and browser notifications and best sign up with an email address you don’t need regularly. I use an email address I only set up for this kind of shopping. Ordering from AliExpress means you get a  LOT of mail, offers, special deals and so on. You can’t really do anything about it, even if you specify in your account settings that you don’t want those.

In case you have safety concerns: I was a bit afraid to order before I created an account many years ago, but I took a few “precautions”. You need a credit card to shop there. I always use either Paypal or a prepaid card for online shopping. Most shops on AliExpress don’t offer Paypal as a payment method, so a prepaid credit card is the safest option. If something should happen, the loss is limited. But other than that it’s quite safe – or as safe as Ebay. A bit of common sense, some rating checks, checks how long the shop exists and you are good to go. The few times items didn’t arrive I got a full refund from AliExpress or the seller. You can see an average rating of the shop when you check the store information. It’s always a good sign if the shop exists for a while and the ratings are good. Shipping speed is relative, though. It just takes a while, from two weeks to a month. If something goes wrong, you can open a dispute and get a refund.

I have bought a lot of doll stuff from AliExpress, mostly for the unstrung dolls, props, sewing notions and so on. My overall experience is very good. Happy shopping 🙂

I hope this was helpful for you if you are looking for shoe options for your girls.

I promised doll Yoga, and after I made some Yoga outfits for the girls they are ready for some exercise. For those who actually practice Yoga: I am well aware these are not proper poses, but it was fun to try.

Meet the contestants: Bell (Lara) on the original “Slim body” (OldSlim), Solveig (Rose) on the “New Slim body” (NewSlim) and Nina (she doesn’t have a name yet) on the “Naturally Posed slim body” (NaPoSlim). I will use abbreviations for this post, since the names for the bodies as they are called on the Raccoondoll website are rather long. The body review for the NewSlim body (released in 21) can be found here. Since I started writing this post I received Cindy on the Naturally Posed Glamorous body (NaPoGlam) as well, and everything I write about the NaPoSlim holds true for the glamorous version as well, it’s just a bit curvier.

The name for the Naturally Posed body (release 2023) is an accurate name for this new body. While the NewSlim already came with some posing improvements, this new body offers a completely different posing experience. Compared to the NaPoSlim the older bodies and other doll bodies appear stiff. The NaPoSlim does not only hold poses much better, it allows the limbs to move and behave in a more natural way. Slightly angled elbows, different knee joints and other changes make it possible to pose this body in new ways. It just looks more relaxed and natural, and the body holds those poses without effort.

And the NaPoSlim body holds the arm and hand poses close to the body without tricks and support. I wrote in my boxopening post that I am not a fan of the way the elbow and knee joints look. But once you have learnt what the limbs can do the aesthetics are negligible.

As you can see in the picture below, the NaPoSlim looks more natural even in a standing position. The arms look less stiff, and the legs can do relaxed looking contrapposto poses easily. The NewSlim body can do some of those as well, but the weak point of that body are definitively the ankle joints. The feet tend to move in unwanted ways and without shoes the joints are not really stable.

All three bodies can do the sitting pose in the following pictures. The NaPoSlim body needs a bit more turning and trying for the leg position, the simple leg-forward needs a bit of a pull out of the hip socket first. The arms can do straight and angled, and the body holds the pose very easily. The other two bodies needed a bit more balancing time. You can see that the NaPoSlim shoulder-width and arm joints allow the arms to go up around the head more naturally.

Nina’s left knee can lay flat on the ground, I just didn’t turn the mobility joints far enough. Still learning to pose the body.

All three bodies can do this as well. The OldSlim body breast part snaps into a sideways angle that doesn’t look very elegant and creates a dent in the silhouette. The hands don’t hold a head-touching position. The NewSlim body takes some balancing to stand in this pose. Her ankles are weak. The hands can touch the head. The NaPoSlim torso part moves most easily, and the arms touch legs and head willingly. Again, the NaPoSlim body looks most natural in this pose.

The hands are a problem for this pose, so the NaPoSlim with the flat hands has an advantage here. She can even move one leg up. The NewSlim feet and hands are not made for this, so I had some problems keeping them in that position. OldSlim as well as NewSlim look a bit stiff in the arms and shoulders.

The NaPoSlim knee joints might not be the prettiest, but they allow the legs to fold in a way the other legs can’t. The head can move back nicely as well, but that might change once she wears a wig.

Again, all three bodies can do this, but the hands and arms of the NaPoSlim stay in position, while the OldSlim and NewSlim arms can’t touch the head. The knee joints look definitively odd though. The OldSlim and NewSlim knees are just looking a bit prettier in certain poses.

It took some time to get the OldSlim into this position without her falling sideways, but she can do it. Her’s as well as the NewSlim body arms didn’t want to stay on the tigh, though. In this position the NaPoSlim needs a bit more encouragement to place the legs a bit apart, the knee joints make the legs want to fold automatically. Again, turning the mobility joints a bit more might have helped. But none of the other bodies could do the pose in the last picture, placing the hand on the tigh and keeping it there.

Now this is a pose only the NaPoSlim can do. Not that there would be much need to ever put a doll into that position. The OldSlim and NewSlim body needed one leg on the ground to keep them stable, they can’t “stand” on their knees. And they needed a lot of balancing to even hold the pose long enough to take the pictures. The NewSlim body wouldn’t stand with a torso bent back, and her arms didn’t want to stay straight either. The NaPoSlim can hold this forever. You could store her like that. Sorry for the bad light, by the way.

This clearly weren’t poses you would chose to show off clothes (well, except Yoga outfits), but I thought it would be fun to compare the different bodies in this way. As far as natural posing for every day use is concerned, the new NaPoSlim body is clearly the winner. Even in unspectacular poses it takes and holds the pose in a more relaxed looking way, and some of the poses I need for showing off clothes very often are so easy! Like putting a hand on a thigh. Last but not least a couple of “every day use” poses. If you own one of the older bodies you will know that these poses are not easy to achieve with other doll bodies.

I will write another post about the hands, feet, clothing and shoes and show the NaPoSlim and NaPoGlam side by side, but I didn’t want to make this post even longer. I hope you found this helpful and fun 🙂

My Ivy arrived! It surprises me every time how much sculpted detail the Raccoon faces have. You wouldn’t be able to tell from the promo pictures. She is every bit as lovely as I expected her to be. And I ordered her on the new slim body. Raccoon released another update of the original slim body a while ago, but this one is simply called New Slim on the website. As far as I remember it was released in 2021.

First things first, blank mugshots of my Ivy. Look how far she can bend her head back!

I’ll add the measurements for the New Slim as published on the Raccoon site to the doll measurements.

And now to the new body

I like the old body, but there are a couple of things that sometimes bug me. The huge head-hook for example. The advantage is that you could almost pull it up with your fingers, but it seems just a bit oversized. And although the robust lower legs are certainly unique, they don’t look that elegant with certain skirt lengths.

I always thought FID legs found elegant poses more easily, and even though the double jointed Raccoon knees make kneeling possible, simple classic counterpoise poses (contrapposto) are difficult. The dolls with the old slim body seem to have a slight backwards bend in the hips when standing unaided, and the legs pose a bit unwilling. All these points and more have been addressed and improved.

The changes are not so very obvious at first glance, but there are a lot of slight changes that make posing easier and the appearance more elegant, at least in my opinion.

The most obvious changes are the larger hands and feet. The hands have FID hand size, and if you don’t mind that the hand rings don’t fit into the smaller slits, you can probably mix and match with FID hands if you want more variety in hands. The comparison picture shows Rosie’s arms with FID woman hands next to the New Slim hands. The Raccoon hands are slightly wider, and the thumb points in a different direction, but they are pretty compatible otherwise.

As you can see in the very first picture above, the hand-gesture is taking up a lot of room. I tried some of my other Raccoon’s jackets, and the sleeves won’t go over the hands. That might pose a problem if you have a lot of expensive clothes with tight sleeves. Ivy will get her own clothes anyway, so it’s not a big deal to alter my patterns accordingly, but that’s just me.

The new feet have more sculpted detail as well, they are longer and the instep is slightly curved.  Some very small shoes like some YOSD Mary Janes or Mel Chan shoes do not fit the new feet. But now they can wear FID and JID shoes, and of course my favorite Matt Tonner boots still fit, just like other slim mini shoes. The FID high heel shoes are not an exact fit, but they don’t fall off the feet any longer.

Since foot swapping is possible without problems, you can put the new feet on the old body and vice versa. I hope the new ankle joints won’t become floppy after a while, but for now the new body stands like a rock – and I am sure the sculptor knows what he’s doing.

I added a picture of the heel feet in JID/FID heels and some American Model shoes from Facets. You can see the gap with the old feet.

The changes to the upper body are almost invisible, but they are there. The elbow joints create a more natural arm position, the nipples are sanded (no more pointy boobs) and the transition from torso to thigh looks smoother. I wasn’t a fan of the bulging thigh joints in tight clothes, so that’s great. And speaking of boobs: The small bust is now almost as large as the previous large bust (20.3 cm). I don’t know how large the “large” bust is, the measurements on the Raccoon page are not up to date yet. I asked, and I will update them here when I know.

The engineering of the arms is a bit different as well. Not very obvious, unless you pose the arms. Outstretched the old arms pointed straight forward. The new arms point forwards with a bit of an angle. This angle makes it possible to do a couple of nice things the old arms couldn’t. Like touching the face without problems – if you bend the elbows the hands go to the face and not away from it. There’s a whole range of things she can do with her new hands and arms. Face palm being one of them ;-D. I am sure I’ll have fun with those new possibilities.

Another huge improvement are the legs. Not only the shape in general but some small engineering changes that make all the difference. The legs seem straighter. And the hip joint makes poses possible that have been difficult before- or at least holding the poses was difficult. I have not tried to pose the new body in every possible way, and my other girls on the old slim body are all sueded, so I am just showing the most obvious differences. I am sure I will notice more of them when I really start to work with her and pose her dressed.

Excuse the dolly nudity. The last two pictures show the improved hip joint engineering better than an actual sitting-up-pose, that’s why you get to see unblurred doll parts. The changed socket and how the position and movement of the joint affects the angle of the legs in comparison is pretty obvious. The legs of the new body want to close naturally, while the old legs tended to drift apart. Draw a line from the knee to the ankle and you can see that the new foot is now where the center of mass would be when the doll is standing. The line has moved from slightly outwards to straight down. Balancing the doll in a classic contrapposto is now possible without problems. Well done!

It’s a beautiful body, and it’s still distinguishable as a Raccoon body. I will definitively want possible future dolls with this one.

Update: The lovely Morganatron who runs Peppermint Circus on Etsy provided a picture of a Raccoonhead on the old Withdoll girl body next to the Raccoonbody. Looks like a great teenager option.

FID /Raccoon chest part on JID original lower body doesn’t fit (maybe they fit on the new JID body, they seem to be smaller in the chest). FID heads on the JID body don’t work either. You can however put a Raccoon head on a JID girl original body. It makes for a rather thick necked result with broad shoulders. Even more ridiculous is a FID male head on a JID girl body. FID male heads on JID boy bodies on the other hand might work pretty well as teen sons. Both my JID boys are on the muscle body, so I can’t show how it would look on the slimmer model body. The advantage would be a possible purchase of this hybrid over doll choice.

As you can see in the picture above, a Raccoon head on a classic JID girl body might work as a teenage daughter. No 4 and 5 might be possible Kids aged 4 to 6. Willow looks very tiny, his head is almost too small. The Kruselings are jointed plastic play dolls. This one is a dark skinned doll, there are lighter skin tones as well.

Rosie is a very elegant and mature looking sculpt, so I guess if you want to go for a combination of a JID girl body and Raccoon, other/younger looking sculpts might be better suited.

This is a combination of a JID muscle body and Claude’s head. The head is still a bit large, but this could work.

Haha. This looks so ODD. Claude’s head is still smaller than the original JID head, but it still looks ridiculous.

And of course you could just go for the curvy FID to create a teenager. They are smaller than the classic body, but about the same height as Raccoon.

And to give you an update on my question to Iplehouse if they would consider downsizing the KID heads: Although their first reaction was promising they told me a couple of months later that they don’t plan to do this any time soon. Maybe I should ask Raccoon instead if he would consider making small heads for the KID body.

His box is probably the most practical doll packaging I ever received. He came in a little zipped carrier bag with a lanyard, complete with undies, eyes, a doll cleaner and facemask. I ordered him in coffee skin and blank.

I knew he would be small, but somehow I didn’t imagine him to be so tiny and graceful at the same time. It’s probably a weird description for a male doll, but he is so well balanced and smooth, light and flexible that graceful is what comes to mind. I already have MYou dolls and I think they are great posers, but this little guy is quite the acrobat.

When I took him out of his fancy box he suffered from the snappy leg disease, though – like many very small and light weight dolls. A thorough hot glue sueding of all his joints was a huge improvement. No more snappy knees.

Speaking of improvements: I knew that Myou released new bodies for the larger dolls since I ordered my larger girls, but those I have are the “generation one” bodies. This is a company that obviously tries to work on issues. Points that might have been issues with older dolls – like the somewhat stiff looking hands or overly long necks – don’t apply to this little guy. He does have a long neck, but it looks natural. They really did a great job engineering this little doll. It’s almost perfect. The only thing I am not really happy about are the hooks- they are so tiny and sharp that I managed to poke my fingers with them when I sueded his ankle joints. But since he doesn’t need heel feet I don’t ever have to touch the hooks again. It’s not an issue, really.

As I mentioned, he feels very smooth and light, and if I had to guess I’d guess he’s printed, not cast. He doesn’t smell of resin, there’s not a single seamline. He doesn’t look sanded (MYou dolls are generally very smooth and fully sanded). He has the seamless look and feel of a high quality printed doll, but I asked MYou, he’s handmade, not printed. He just looks fragile, the make and material seems to be quite sturdy.

The tiny eyes he came with are the blue eyes he wears in the promo pics. I will probably make eyes for him, I want brownish eyes for what I have in mind for his character. The eyes he is wearing in some of the pictures are Ancient Tales eyes I bought for my Rachel. They fit, but they are blue as well.

His promo pics just don’t do this doll credit. He is just 27cm tall, but oh boy can he pose. I think he is probably the best posing doll I own. He can really do a handstand without falling over. I’d call that a well balanced doll. And he certainly is well balanced, head size, weight, foot size, limb length – all together a very harmonious result. Well done, MYou sculptor- who ever you are!

See for yourself. All these poses are possible without any effort, putty or any other tricks other dolls need to hold poses like that. Except for the sueding of course. He can pose without the sueding, he just doesn’t hold poses very well without snapping joints after a few minutes.

I tried a couple of shoes on him, and even though he can wear YOSD shoes they look odd. But Taeyang shoes are a perfect fit, they look right and are exactly his size. I ordered these a couple of years ago for Rachel. The seller was HelloCoolcat on Etsy. The wig is a size 4-5″ from Fatiao- and no, he is not going to keep this, I just put it on to show that it fits. I guess a size 3-4″ might fit as well, this one is almost too large around the ears. I don’t know how long Taeyang legs are, but I guess they are about the same size.

I will make a basic pattern set for him at some point and share it on the blog as usual. Maybe someone has both, a tiny MYou and a Taeyang and could try what fits.

As you might have guessed already: I am quite fascinated by this little boy. It will take a while until he’ll get his face though – I have so many new doll projects that I don’t know where to start- or rather continue.

I hope this was helpful for those who think about ordering one of the tiny MYous. Just do it, they’re great 🙂

I very much hope Iplehouse will consider releasing a new headsize for KIDs. The bodies look actually fine in proportion, the hands are a perfect KID/parent fit. All Iplehouse would need to do is offer a smaller head version along with the existing KID body.

This is FID Raffine with KID Lonnie. I think the body is a good proportional fit, just the head is far too large.

What I did is a little photoshopping. I scaled the head down to 90% of it’s original size. It still looks natural with the existing KID body, although the neck opening would need to be a bit larger to let the head slide further down the neck.

I will suggest this to Iplehouse and I hope they will consider it. If you can chose body versions for the dolls, why not offer head versions for the same body? After all they do have experience with scaling down heads, don’t they?

The measurements of the FID curvy body are pretty close to that of the Raccoon glamorous body, although the thighs of the curvy FID girls are a bit slimmer.

Raccoon glamorous thigh circumference is 14cm, FID curvy have 13,5cm thighs, which makes them just those annoying 5mm wider than classic FID girl’s thighs. I don’t own a glamorous Raccoon, so I can’t tell if they can share pants. The stretchy Raccoon pants fit the curvy FID girl, but the cotton pants that I made for the slim Raccoon body are too tight in the upper leg. Roux pants on the other hand are too wide in the waist and slightly too long. If they were tight, they wouldn’t fit in the butt and thigh region.

Like nYID girls the FID curvy body legs have a slight bend to them. I haven’t sueded the ankle joints yet, and I got the impression the classic body stands a bit more safely on it’s own without shoes.

But the curvy girls pose just as good as the other FID bodies, and the three sizes in a row show the variation in body size and shape. I think they would make lovely siblings of different ages.

Good news: FID guys can use SID/nYID heel feet that came with the classic body version (not the new SID woman body). SID/nYID women feet are an alternative if you don’t mind a transition from leg to foot that’s not entirely smooth.They are offered on the Iplehouse option parts page, and although there is a little gap the FID guys can stand unaided in Iple women heel feet shoes. I put Everett’s original foot next to the switched heel foot, and as you can see the SID women heel feet are much closer in size to his foot than the JID girl feet.

Somebody requested a picture of a Raccoon girl head on an Iplehouse JID girl body. While JID heads on the Iple FID body look rather off and FID woman heads do not fit on JID girl bodies, the Raccoon head looks fine on the JID girl body. In terms of realistic proportions it fits even better than the original JID girl head/body combination.

The Raccoon body is slightly taller and the curves are more mature. Rosie’s head fits well on the neck, no gap.

Since I don’t have Raccoon guys I can’t do a male headswap, but the FID guy/JID boy body swap has been done.

The first thing I checked was if the feet are really smaller. But apparently they are not, at least there are no visible differences in length. But the body itself is quite different- very slender and almost a bit boyish compared to the muscle body. But I guess I just have to get used to it. Claude’s head looks much more in proportion on it, now I just have to make new clothes.

The model body has longer legs, a lot less shoulder width and slimmer legs and arms. The legs of JID boy pants are too short of course, but the width fits. The pants I made for the muscle body are definitely too wide and short.

Posing seems to be the same, the model body is a bit floppier, but I will suede both. And they both pose so well compared to the big guys!

And some mugshots of my Raccoon girls. I am very happy with them. I knew I would like them, the sculpts are even more detailed than expected. Pictures with wigs and FU don’t really show the amount of bone structure, the cheek bones. Unfortunately it’s still a bit dark, so these don’t show all either, but the give at least an idea. I didn’t fasten the heads.

Another great thing about the Raccoon girls is that the hooks are wide enough that you can put the head on the neck without fastening it, and the hooks don’t slip up the arms if you unhook the hands. And while BJD doll profiles usually look a bit odd, their profile view is just as realistic as the front view.
